Blog Notes

The blog is a far more informal set of writing samples and includes the thought processes and trial scenarios for much of my writing. There, I will have answered prompts and classroom discussions with my own interpretation of collectively read texts. One can expect that my blog will still seek to be the reflective, open concept that I have applied to the portfolio itself. Although there was surely a point where the blog had regular uploads, by the time this portfolio becomes live it will function more as an archive.

Portfolio Notes

The aim of this portfolio is both to display the many pieces that I have written in my time as an undergraduate student at the University of Denver, and also the change in how I write. This will be accomplished by including pieces that capture the stages of my development from a new writer to one with far more technical skills than I had prior to attending this school. I have also aimed to integrate my ecology major so that more of who I am might be made obvious. Enjoy!

''Geoduck Proposal" is an ecological report written in 2024 as a potential grant proposal. In this piece, I discuss the ethicality of allowing the coastline to remain unwatched as the climate warms.

PORTFOLIO SELECTIONS

In "For Fresno's Unknown Progeny" I explore the themes of familial brokenness at the heart of the American dream, weaving together my own anger as well as anecdotes I've heard since I was a child.

"The Silhouette of Psyche"is an attempt to quantify the kind of love that ends, and the knowledge that the protagonist has drawn too close. It combines real and fictive events to encourage an epic tragedy styling.
